GRANDMA'S PRAWN GRAVY RECIPE

Prawn is a tasty as well as a healthy sea food. It has a good source of unsaturated fat and omega 3 fatty acid. A high protein food that is full of nutrients. Today am gonna share the yummiest recipe that made me love prawns. It's the recipe of my Grandma!! Well now you all would have understood why this recipe is special & a must try!!! After all, Our Grandmoms are experts !!  Here it is..


CUISINE : South Indian

TIME : 20 minutes


SERVES : 3-4


INGREDIENTS :
  • Prawns - 750gms
  • Big onion - 3 medium sized, finely chopped
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium sized, ground into a paste
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Green chilly -1 slit
  • Coconut oil - as per requirement
  • Salt as required
  • Curry leaves - 2 springs
  • Coriander leaves

TO GRIND :
  • Ginger - 1 piece
  • Garlic - 10cloves
  • Cloves - 3-4
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  • Cardamon - 4
  • Pepper - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1t sp
  • Red chilly - 2
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp


METHOD :

1. Grind the ingredients in "to grind" section into a paste.

2. Add oil to pan. Add bay leaf, green chilly and onion.  Sauté until it turns golden brown.

3. Add tomato paste and sauté well.

4. Add the ground paste and turmeric powder to it. Sauté until the raw smell vanishes.

5. Add the deviened, cleaned prawn and salt. Sauté well. Close it with a lid and cook for 5 minutes. If prawns are undercooked, let it be cooked for two more minutes. But remember to check inbetween to avoid overcooking.

6. Add curry leaves and coriander leaves. Serve with hot rice. Yummiest prawn gravy is ready!! 😋
