ELANEER PAYASAM

Tamil new year is celebrated grandly by most of us. It falls in the mid of April and this time its on April 14. Its too hot so, we thought something cool and sweet can make our Chitrai maasa pirapu (New year) complete. So, we decided to post Elaneer payasam(Tender coconut payasam) this week. I remember the day we won second place in our college cookery competition in 2010. That time this dish was something very new for everyone. We prepared this recipe along with other dishes as dessert for our competition. Ahh.. Sweet memories!!! Now along with our sweet memories, here we give you the recipe of this sweet dish!! Cherish it, while we all seek blessings from God, for a prosperous, productive, positive and a happy year ahead!!



INGREDIENTS :

  • Cow milk - 1/2 litre
  • Coconut milk - 250 ml, thick milk from 1/2 coconut.
  • Fleshy part of 2 tender coconuts
  • Sugar - 250 gm
  • Pomegranate or any choice of fruit








METHOD :

1. Boil milk well with sugar such that it becomes 3/4 th of 1/2 litre.



2. Let it cool down, completely.



3. To this cooled milk ,add coconut milk, coarsely ground or chopped tender coconut. Garnish with

any choice of fruit like pineapple or pomegranate. And it’s read to be relished!!
