HERBS AND GREENS - MINT LEAVES / PUTHINAKEERAI

Hi friends 😀 Today we are about to see the benefits of the well-known and daily used mint leaves / puthinakeerai. we all know it gives a good fragrance and induces our taste buds when added to chutney, Briyani, pulao, etc., and keeps our body cool. Now come on, today lets see few more medicinal benefits and usage of puthina leaves.





  • We do puthina chutney for dosa/idli/biryani which is common. Add mint chutney to hot rice and add a tablespoon of gingelly oil, mix it well and serve it. This simple and easy recipe helps us to get rid of Constipation, Gastric problems, Anemia, Ulcer & Stomach Irritations.
  • Boil water and add country sugar to it. Let it dissolve completely to make syrup. Now add fresh mint juice with it and mix it well. By taking few drops of this syrup, Nausea, especially for pregnant women can be reduced.  
  • In 1/4 Ltr of Puthinakeerai juice, add Ginger, Dried Ginger, Garlic, Asafoetida and boil & drain it. Take ½ ounce of syrup and add honey and drink it daily in morning. Then drink hot milk immediately. This method helps us from Heart & Lung Diseases, Sarvaangavatham (diseases afflicting the whole body) , Stomach problems, in the long run. It also helps us to reduce the causes of premenstrual Syndrome.
  • The fragrance of Mint Leaves tempts us to eat and helps us in easy digestion. It helps us to get rid of Agni Mantham.
