VANJARAM FRY FISH

Hi everyone...This is my favourite grandmas recipe ...vanjaram fry. Here goes the recipe for the delicious crunchy vanjaram or seer fish.You can follow the same recipe for any other fish variety.

TIME: 1 hr
SERVES: 3


INGREDIENTS :
  • Fish - 1/2 kg sliced and cleaned

To grind:
  • Fennel seeds- 1tsp
  • Garlic -8 cloves
  • Ginger - 1inch
  • Peppercorns- 1tbsp
  • Jeera- 1tsp
Others:
  • Chilli powder- 1 tbsp
  • Corriander powder- 1tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp( in this recipe i hve used fresh turmeric)
  • Lemon- 1 small sized
  • Salt to taste


METHOD:

  1. Grind the ingredients in the list to paste.
  2. To the paste add all spices and salt and mix well. Add lemon juice to it and make it a good paste not too thin or thick.
  3. Apply the mixture to the fish evenly and gently. Refrigerate for minimum of 1 hour . More you refrigerate more the spices gets into the fish and makes it more tasty .
  4. Shallow fry on tawa until golden and crisp. serve it hot kulambu rice or even you can munch it as snacks.
